Bago City police yesterday said they are now eyeing six suspects in the rape and murder of 14-year-old Jemeiah Rose Oliveros. Bago City police chief, Police Major John Joel Batusbatusan, said they are now trying to locate possible witnesses who are able to present evidence in solving the case.
The law enforcement official said evidence currently shows the crime took place elsewhere and the victim’s remains were dumped in the area.
Police are also waiting for the final autopsy report. Authorities have since confirmed the victim was rape and her remains exhibited signs of being choked.
Post-mortem examinations also found an injury to the back of her head.
Last Monday, Oliveros’ remains were discovered in the barangay’s Hacienda Phoenix.
Based on initial investigations by Bago City police, the victim was told to visit the home of Jessie Buenabeles to retrieve her father’s mobile phone on New Year’s Day but failed to return home./DGB, WDJ
