Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson recently confirmed Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office head Elena Serenias tendered her resignation. The governor did not cite any specific reason for her departure but said, “She [had] already done her work in government.”
“As far as I know, she has not yet reached the compulsory retirement age mandated by Republic Act 8291, or the Government Service Insurance System Act of 1997,” he explained.
The governor added, her resignation is being considered an “optional retirement.”
Serenias, an appointee of Lacson’s predecessor, former Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., follows former Provincial Environment and Management Office head, Atty. Wilfred Ramon Peñalosa, who left his post as the incumbent governor took office./DGB, WDJ
