Parking spaces considered for public markets
The Iloilo City government reported an increase of P3 million in market collections, up to P74 million in 2019 from P71 million the prior year.
The Local Economic Enterprise Office noted, the highest monthly amount was December’s income, which totalled P7.3 million.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas credited the increase on intensified collection efforts by market supervisors.
Meanwhile, the mayor said they are looking to provide parking spaces at the La Paz Public Market, Jaro Big Market, Arevalo Public Market, and Mandurriao Public Market.
“[They] will have parking [on the] second floor to allow [for] more cars,” he explained. “We will work on the design.”
Treñas added, the City Treasurer’s Office is considering a loan to fund the project./WDJ
