De La Salle University (DLSU) yesterday announced Frederick Pumaren would return to coach to the men’s senior basketball team. The Ilonggo coach previously led the squad to back-to-back titles in 1989 and 1990.
His formal appointment was made official January 1 after being released from Centro Escolar University, where he concurrently served as head coach and ran basketball operations for the school.
The Pototan native also previously served as head coach for the University of the East from 2013 to 2017.
Pumaren also has experience coaching several PBA teams, the most recent being the now-defunct FedEx Express in the 2002-2003 season.
DLSU finished last season in fifth place with a 7-7 win-loss record./ASC, WDJ
