The PBA Governors’ Cup finals begin tonight when the Meralco Bolts and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel kick off their best-of-seven series at 7:00 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The meeting is the third time in four years that the two are facing off in the Governors’ Cup finals.
“We played them twice and we beat them twice,” Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone said during a press conference over the weekend. “Meralco is going to be super hungry to beat us.”
Barangay Ginebra scored a 4-2 series win to take the 2015-16 championship, they then won the subsequent season with a 4-3 series win.
Meanwhile, Bolts head coach Norman Black affirmed they are gunning for the trophy.
“Our goal is to win the championship,” he stated. “We [have] a lot of respect for Ginebra—Tim Cone is one of the top coaches in the league—but our goal is to win.”/ASC, WDJ
