Brothers killed in Cauayan road mishap

Two tricycle riders were killed after a collision with a van around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday in Cauayan town’s Barangay Caliling.

Police identified the victims as Romar, 38, widower, and his brother Remenie Coriento Olpenda, 27, single, both residents of the town’s Barangay Guijulngan. The two were rushed to the town’s district hospital for medical treatment but were pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician.

According to police investigators, the vehicle driven by Romar was running northward when it overlapped the curved path traveled by a Nissan Urvan resulting the collision. The van is registered to Occeña Travel and Tours, Inc., Lacson Street in Sipalay City’s Barangay 1.

The van’s driver, 33-year old Michael John Bayot, married of Sipalay City’s Barangay Mambaroto, was brought to the municipality’s police station for proper disposition./WDJ
