CDRRMO looking to have emergency vehicles avoid traffic
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga

The Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) has called for a meeting with ambulance operators in Negros Occidental this month. In an interview with Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod, CDRRMO cluster head Joemarie Vargas said the meeting aims to organize routes for ambulances operating from other Negros Occidental localities, especially those heading to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
Vargas said organizing the route will help emergency vehicles avoid the city’s traffic problem as well not hampering the medical attention needed by the patients they are transporting.
The city official added, the meeting is part of the city’s training program in order to prepare Bacolod City in the event of a major earthquake.
The said meeting will also be participated by safety officers from hospitals, as well as hotel operators.
Towards the end of last month, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas revealed plans to hasten the implementation of intelligent transport systems by 2020.
Such systems include the addition of various technology for the purpose of monitoring traffic such as traffic signal control systems, automatic number plate recognition or speed cameras, installation of closed-circuit television cameras, among other mechanisms./DGB, WDJ
