Ceres-Negros FC announced the return of Joshua Grommen earlier this week. The defender, who suited up for the Bacolod City-based club from 2017 to 2018, made his comeback after a stint with Thai League 1 outfit Sukhothai FC.
“This decision has been purely based on football as opportunities elsewhere were more lucrative,” the Brisbane native said in an interview with Australian sports publication FTBL. “This could make for the perfect springboard to bigger and better things for the seasons to come.”
Grommen, however, admitted to earlier considering re-signing with the Thai club but, in the end, went with coming back to the Philippines.
“I played for Ceres-Negros FC three years ago, when we won the AFC Cup,” he explained. “I feel a bit like home at the club.”
Grommen is the club’s fourth acquisition during the off-season alongside midfielder Arnie Pasinabo, striker Mark Hartmann, and winger Hikaru Minegishi./ASC, WDJ
