Ravena, Tungcab added to Gilas Pilipinas pool
Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas recently announced Ilonggo forward Ferdinand ‘Thirdy’ Ravena III and Frederick Tungcab would be part of the pool for the Philippine men’s national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, ahead of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers. The first qualifying round begins on February 20, when the Philippines takes on Thailand.
According to a report by the Tiebreaker Times, Ravena and Tungcab join Isaac Go, Rey Suerte, Allyn Bulanadi, and Matt and Mike Nieto in the special draft.
During his most recent season with Ateneo de Manila University, Ravena averaged 14.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.13 steals, and 0.47 blocks per game; while Tungcab averaged 2.94 points and 1.63 rebounds per game as a player for the University of the Philippines.
Aside from Thailand, the Philippines is also drawn in Group A with Indonesia and South Korea. The top two teams in each group earns a spot in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup./ASC, WDJ
