Two people, including a pregnant woman, were killed over the weekend following a road collision between a motorcycle and a tricycle in Cadiz City’s Barangay Burgos.
Police identified the fatalities as 22-year-old motorcyclist Eric Onyot and 32-year-old Sheriel Sumogat, who was eight months pregnant.
The injured were identified as Nanie Decain; Daisy Decain; Sydney Decain; Jennelyn Anota; Abbygale Anota; Jacky Estersito; and Poljun Ofianga, the driver of the tricycle.
Cadiz City traffic investigators said the tricycle originated from the city proper and was heading towards the city’s Barangay Sicaba when it collided with the motorcycle.
Onyot was instantly killed on impact, while Sumogat was initially rushed to the city’s district hospital where she later passed away.
Witnesses to the accident claimed Onyot was traveling too fast and lost control of the motorcycle, resulting in him overshooting to the opposite side of the lane and causing the collision.
The other victims, meanwhile, are still being treated for injuries./DGB, WDJ
