Bacolod City’s Task Force Botagoy seized a total 26 kilograms of pork meat last Tuesday at Purok Kalubihan in the city’s Barangay Mandalagan. Task force head Martin Pinaga said a local resident contacted them claiming the meat being sold by a certain Jeffrey Locsin was illegally butchered.
A city ordinance notes, the slaughtering of animals for the purpose consumption must be done at the AVM Bernardo slaughterhouse in Barangay Handumanan.
Pinaga said, when they interviewed Locsin, he claimed he does not sell in the city’s public market but accepts work contracts from customers.
The individual in question was given a warning and the meat was confiscated. The recovered meat was then buried at the said slaughterhouse./DGB, WDJ
