Capiz placed under ‘State of Calamity’
Following last Thursday’s meeting of the Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the council unanimously passed a resolution to declare a state of calamity over the province due to Typhoon Ursula. The Capiz Provincial Board subsequently, during a special session that same day, approved the move.
According to a release by the Philippine Information Agency, as of 5:00 a.m. yesterday, a total 32,701 families were affected by storm. In addition, after a total 7,023 families initially took shelter at evacuation centers across the province, there are still 4,962 displaced families.
Meanwhile, a recent report by the Office of Civil Defense-Region VI recorded four fatalities in Capiz./WDJ
