St. John’s FC (SJFC) and Pontevedra-B emerged as champions of Dynamic Futsal League 2019, which came to a close last weekend at the Panaad Covered Court in Bacolod City. SJFC won the Boys’ Born 2009 division by scoring a 2-1 win over Pontevedra; while Pontevedra-B won the Girls’ Born 2004 contest following their 5-4 win over the Bata Tigers.
Lance Panes, who was named MVP, opened scoring for SJFC in the 13th minute; however, Niel Gella, who was recognized as Best Midfielder, found an equalizer for Pontevedra four minutes later. By the 38th minute, Panes earned a brace by scoring the decisive goal.
On the girls’ side, after the Bata Tigers pulled ahead 4-2, Hannah Mae Montalban, who was named MVP, and Aliexa Mae Casi tied the match at 4-4, which forced the game into extra time.
