The Lopue’s Table Tennis Association (LOPTTA) will be kicking off their annual Governor’s Cup Table Tennis Championship today, December 27, at the LOPTTA venue located at Lopue’s San Sebastian. The event, which runs through the weekend, is expected to see participants from across the province, along with athletes from Manila, Antique, Cebu, Tacloban City, along with players representing the United States and the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries.
According to the organization, the tournament complies by the Negros Occidental Provincial Sports Office mission of developing grassroots sports programs in the province.
“In every tournament, players should be given the chance to experience playing in a venue that is not oven hot, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) tables that are all of the same brand and model, ITTF rules, and game schedules published at the start of the tournament to allow players to know when to eat, rest, and warm up,” LOPTTA noted in a press release. “Tournaments should be player friendly.”
Earlier, the LOPTTA-University of St. La Salle team concluded the 39th Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association, or NOPSSCEA, table tennis event with four gold and four silver medals, along with one bronze medal./WDJ
