Local NPA command: Northern Negros is one with the rebels

In light of yesterday’s 51st founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), military personnel deployed to the Western Visayas expressed support anew for peace talks with the insurgent group. In a message, Philippine Army 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) spokesperson, Captain Panchito Cenon stated: “The people’s will is for peace and development. May this time around make us realize that the real victims of fighting the duly-instituted government are the common people.”
“If indeed we are for the people, then we listen to the majority,” he declared. “Abandon the armed struggle for it will not do good to our kababayans who expect a little sincerity that all things are done to champion the people.”
“You cannot win the war as evidenced by the more than fifty years of fighting without strategic victory over government forces,” the military official warned the rebel group. “Should you continue to believe that something has to be done for the welfare of the people, then come out in the open and voice your ideas in the proper forum and let’s work together to achieve that genuine and lasting peace.”
In response, NPA Northern Negros Guerilla Front-Roselyn Jean Pelle Command spokesperson Cecil Estrella insisted: “Broad masses of the people in Northern Negros are one with the revolutionary movement and people [across] the whole country in celebrating the 51st anniversary of the CPP.”
“Negrosanons are also in great mourning over the passing of activists and civilians who fell victim to the bloody counter-revolutionary war waged by the US-Duterte regime against the people,” the spokesperson added. “The revolutionary movement shall not rest until justice is served to all victims of state fascism.”/DGB, WDJ
