Negros was struck by three earthquakes Saturday night.
The first tremor, which measured 2.0 in magnitude, was detected at 7:17 p.m. with an epicenter just north of Jimalalud in Negros Oriental; around two minutes before 10:00 p.m., a 2.1-magnitude quake was recorded south of Hinoba-an in Negros Occidental; and, approximately 45 minutes later, a 2.5-magnitude earthquake struck south of Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
Despite the close proximity of the quakes, bulletins from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said no aftershocks were anticipated.
In addition, the agency said no damages were recorded as a result of the seismic activity.
Earlier this month, a total five earthquakes were recorded in and around Sipalay City between December 7 and 8, with the highest measuring 2.7 in magnitude.
A few days later, the city was struck by a minor 1.4-magnitude tremor.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
