Tay Tung athletes shine

Bacolod Tay Tung High School athletes earned several medals at Palarong Panlalawigan 2019, which came to a close last Friday.
In badminton, Athena Sonota won gold in the secondary girls’ singles event, Ciaria Salvio and Julianna Gonzaga captured the secondary girls’ doubles event, Salvio and Lance Vargas took the mixed doubles event, Daphne Park won bronze in the secondary girls’ singles event, and Chase Tormon and Abia Uy won gold in the elementary girls’ event; Fern Alekzander Po won gold in secondary boys’ tennis; in gymnastics, Kiana Alagaban and Matthea Efenio won gold, while Amanda Rosco bagged a gold in aerobic gymnastics; and Kenbert William Ong won gold in taekwondo.
The school also won the secondary girls’ volleyball event, along with the secondary boys’ and elementary boys’ basketball competitions.
The gold medalists will represent Negros Occidental at the 2020 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet, which is scheduled to run from February 15 to 22 in Makato, Aklan./ASC, WDJ
