Around 13% of Bacolod City barangays cleared
During the 18th Regional Oversight Committee deliberation earlier this week in Iloilo City, it was revealed a total 3,018 out of 4,051 barangays in the Western Visayas have been declared “drug-free.”
Antique registered the highest number of declarations at 98.31 percent, followed by Aklan at 90.83 percent. In addition, Iloilo came in third at 88.5 percent.
However, Negros Occidental saw 28.29 percent of barangays declared “drug-free,” while Bacolod City registered at 13.12 percent.
Last month, four Iloilo municipalities—Miagao, Igbaras, Guimbal, and Dingle—along with Passi City were declared “drug-cleared;” while, Bingawan, also in Iloilo, will formally receive the same recognition today.
The oversight committee is composed of representatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region VI, Philippine National Police, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and Department of Health./DGB, WDJ
