Ginebra targets finals berth tonight

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is one game away from securing a spot in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup finals. Holding a 2-1 lead in their semifinal series after their 132-105 win over NorthPort Batang Pier last Wednesday, the two meet again in Game 4 tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
In Game 3, Justin Brownlee flirted with a triple-double for Barangay Ginebra on 41 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists; while Japeth Aguilar chipped in a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Barangay Ginebra took a 36-31 lead in the opening period following triples from Stanley Pringle, along with inside hits by Japeth Aguilar and Brownlee. By the second period, Negrense shooting guard Jeffrei Chan connected consecutive hits and, with contributions from Brownlee and LA Tenorio, Barangay Ginebra took a 64-48 halftime lead.
Into the second half, conversions from Brownlee, Tenorio, Aguilar, and Chan helped give San Miguel their largest lead of 32 points.
Despite the loss, Michael Qualls tallied 30 points for NorthPort, while Christian Standhardinger scored 20, and Ilonggo guard Juan Paolo Taha added 15./ASC, WDJ
