Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Police Colonel Henry Biñas, said the assassins who gunned down the elder brother of former Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo Tan, businessman Roberto ‘Kaishek’ Tan, were “professional gunmen.” He noted, based on the investigator’s report, the gunshots on the car’s window were close to each other.
The police director said they are currently looking into a possible link between the recent incident and the ambush on the former city official last year in Barangay Alangilan.
Additionally, investigators, who are coordinating with witnesses and the victim’s family, have yet to determine if the elder Tan had been receiving death threats.
“All angles are being considered at the moment,” Biñas affirmed.
Aside from Tan’s murder, the law enforcement official said they are also looking into reports of alleged lapses by scene of the crime operatives (SOCO) after Tan’s family claimed they arrived late to the crime scene.
The victim’s family also believes there was a possibility that Tan could have survived the attack had the SOCO investigators arrived immediately after the incident.
Last Sunday, Tan was gunned down by riding-in-tandem suspects in the city’s Barangay Estefania.
The victim’s family has yet to issue a public statement./DGB, WDJ
