Visually-impaired athlete Jettro Alexander de Leon Dionisio recently captured three gold medals last week at Capiz Provincial Meet 2019 in track and field at the Villareal Stadium in Roxas City, Capiz. After winning the100-meter dash, long jump, and shot put, Dionisio earned a spot in next year’s Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Para Games in Aklan.
“As his mother, I am just here to support him all the way,” Dionisio’s mother told Panay News. “He wants to show that disability is not a hindrance to excel in sports.”
“Being a parent of a special child is hard; it entails a lot of sacrifice and sacrifice that I am willing to do,” she added. “Being disabled is not the end, you can still do things despite of that and I am glad that my son is not letting his impairment be a hindrance.”/ASC, WDJ
