The remains of an unidentified man were found over the weekend in a sugarcane plantation in Murcia’s Barangay Pandanon Silos.
Murcia municipal police chief, Police Major Robert Dejucos, said, around 8:35 a.m. on Saturday morning, their station received a call from a concerned citizen after spotting a dead body in the plantation.
Police immediately visited the site and found the remains at least two meters away from the national road.
The body was reportedly found hogtied with packing tape, with the victim’s head covered with duct tape and a plastic bag.
A closer examination suggests the victim was around 30 years old.
There were also tattoos found on the victim’s body, one of which was said to be the name of slain drug lord Melvin Odicta, Sr.
Dejucos said they are still trying to determine the victim’s identity, along with a motive behind the killing; however, authorities believe it may have been drug-related.
Police are also looking to see if there is a connection to the murder of businessman Ontao Sacar earlier this month in Bacolod City./DGB, WDJ
