Area 8 gymnast dominates competition

Kiana Marie Alagaban, who competed in Palarong Panlalawigan 2019 for Area 8, representing the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association, or NOPSSCEA, recently took home six gold medals in the rhythmic gymnastics competition, winning the secondary girls’ individual all-around, along with the rope, ball, clubs, ribbon, and team events.
“I still do not know if I will still play in provincial meet next year,” she said. “I will be moving up to the senior category next year so my focus will be on entering the national team.”
In addition, Alagaban’s Area 8 teammates Ella Jamelo and Althea Descutido took silver and bronze, respectively, in the individual all-around.
Meanwhile, in the elementary division, Matthea Efenio won gold in the individual all-around, along with winning the ball, rope, and team events. She also won silver in free hand.
