NOPSCCEA sweeps basketball titles

The Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (NOPSSCEA), which is competing in Palarong Panlalawigan 2019 as Area 8 and represented by Bacolod Tay Tung High School, swept both the elementary and secondary boys’ basketball events. They took the secondary boys’ competition following a 77-62 win over Area 3, which is represented by Victorias City, Silay City, Talisay City, EB Magalona, and Murcia; while the elementary division was scored through a 100-49 triumph over Area 3.
The NOPSCCEA secondary squad held a slim 35-33 lead at halftime. However, by the third period, the Bacolod City-based side pulled away and built a 59-48 edge, which eventually grew to as much as 15 points.
Among those on the Area 8 roster included Kobe Demisana, Joshua Baldonado, Martin Beatingo, Jan Catalan, Nathan Jundana, John Mermida, Nelbert Minerva, Joseph Palaganas, Josh Luciano, Arkel Santer, Jules Wong, and Fritz Valencia.
Meanwhile, the elementary division’s win was their third consecutive championship.
Adrian Alagaban, Jan Apuyon, Shenlee Arriesgado, Joachim Chuatico, Thomas Gonzales, Robert Guinarao, Francis Lamasan, Santino Loretizo, William Malacad, Dave Recodo, Antonio Rojas, and Frederick Uy made up the elementary squad./ASC, WDJ
