A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday for the new Philippine Women’s University (PWU) campus in Silay City’s Barangay E. Lopez. The school will formally be known as the Pablo Jison Campus in recognition of the late Pablo Jison, whose family donated the land for the school.
The ceremony was led by PWU President Marco Alfredo Benitez; Negros Occidental third district Rep. Francisco Benitez; Silay City Mayor Mark Golez; and the PWU Alumni in Negros Occidental, led by Anna Marie Ledesma.
Prior to running for the House of Representatives, the congressman previously served as PWU president.
Earlier this year, when the deed of donation was signed at the Silay City Civic Center by Elisa Jison and then-congressional candidate Benitez, Golez said, “This is the best welfare towards growth, development, and protection of the Silaynons.”/WDJ
