The University of Santo Tomas (UST) is looking to build up their squad after failing to capture the 82nd UAAP men’s basketball season, losing in two games last month to Ateneo de Manila University. Among those set to reinforce the team is Christian Manaytay, a winger from Capiz, who is said to be “good to go” for Season 83.
“Si Christian Manaytay galing ng De La Salle University (Christian Manaytay comes from De La Salle University),” explained UST head coach Aldin Ayo. “Saktong natabunan siya ng mga one-and-done nila (He came at the right time; a one-and-done).”
“Kung ano ‘yung mga kulang namin ngayon, ‘yun ‘yung tratrabahuin namin (Whatever we are deficient in, that is what we will work on),” he added. “We always want to improve.”
Also joining Manaytay next season are Joshua Fontanilla, Paul Manalang, and Bryan Samudio.
“Our mindset is, even if we made it here in the UAAP finals, madami pa kaming kulang at dapat trabahuin (Our mindset is, even thought we made the UAAP finals, we’re still short on some things and need to work on them),” Ayo noted. “We’ll make sure na ‘yung experience namin, matututo kami (We will make sure we learn from our experience).”/ASC, WDJ
