Tay Tung successfully defends volleyball title

Bacolod Tay Tung High School successfully retained their secondary girls’ volleyball title at Palarong Panlalawigan 2019 yesterday at the Montalbo Residence Covered Court in Bacolod City. The school took the championship after scoring a 25-10, 25-17, 25-9 over Area 3, which is comprised of Victorias City, Silay City, Talisay City, EB Magalona, and Murcia.
Alyssa Bertolano and Joan Marie Monares led Tay Tung in the first set, which quickly became a double-digit lead.
Into the second set, they continued to dominate with Bertolano and Shane Carmona pushing Tay Tung ahead. Despite Area 3 trying to make a run, they were only able to narrow the gap to eight points.
Tay Tung succinctly closed the third set after turning their 5-3 lead into a 21-6 margin.
Also making up the championship roster were Rhean Almendralejo, Kiesha Bedonia, Julianah Severino, Aurea Alvero, Gwen Banas, Annikha Cabasac, Katherine Shaine Cortez, Nicolei Galvan, and Julianne Monares./ASC, WDJ
