Elderly woman dragged along Araneta Street by jeepney

An elderly woman died yesterday morning after she was reportedly struck and dragged by a passenger jeepney along Araneta Street in Bacolod City’s Barangay Tangub.
Police identified the fatality as 74-year-old Nelia Bo-oc, an oyster vendor and resident of the said barangay.
Police Station 8 (PS8) traffic investigator, Police Staff Sergeant Randy Abello, said Bo-oc was attempting to cross the highway when she was struck by a Pulupandan-Bacolod passenger jeepney driven by 34-year-old Arnold Villarta.
The victim was dragged for a few meters before the vehicle came to a stop.
Abello noted, Bo-oc was killed on impact.
Villarta was immediately arrested when police arrived on scene.
The driver faces vehicular manslaughter charges and is presently detained at PS8./DGB, WDJ
