A total of 111 scholars graduated yesterday from Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) digital arts, visual graphic design, and software development courses. Executive Assistant Charina Magallanes-Tan delivered a message from Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to the graduates by calling NOLITC “the impetus in reshaping the socioeconomic landscape of the province by equipping the youth with relevant education and training, and responsive to the needs of the growing IT-BPM (information technology-business process management) industry.”
Joey Gurango, founder of the Coders Guild, an advocacy group that seeks to utilize the software industry in helping develop the country, commended those completing the software development training program.
“When you can code, you don’t only change your life but you can also change the world,” he said.
Meanwhile, visual graphic design students earned a 100 percent passing rate in the national certification exam.
In addition, Christian Ray Ramos, John Andre Grandiza, and Emmanuel Toledo were named best in creative designer; while Concord Gamalando, Gemor Maypa, and Kevin Benedict Veloso were recognized as best animators./DGB, WDJ
