The soldier who was arrested for allegedly abducting and molesting a teenager was attacked and stabbed by the victim’s relative while inside a police station. According to Police Station 2 (PS2) commander, Police Major Sherlock Gabana, the suspect, 32-year-old Deo Balangen, was rushed to the Riverside Medical Center after incurring two stab wounds to the chest and the back, along with another on the neck.
According to the law enforcement official, while the suspect was undergoing documentation procedures, a woman, later identified as 24-year-old Pamela Mabaguiao, the victim’s cousin, lunged at Balangen and stabbed him multiple times with a pair of scissors.
Authorities immediately intervened and stopped the attack, while Balangen was rushed to the hospital.
Gabana said Balangen’s wounds are non-life threatening but he is still undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Mabaguiao, meanwhile, admitted to the attack and said she was expressing her anger at the suspect for the pain and misery he caused to her cousin.
She is presently detained at PS2.
Earlier, Balangen was arrested after he was found with the victim inside a van.
Cops recovered a 9mm pistol from the suspect.
Gabana said a medical examination of the victim revealed there were no signs of sexual assault but noted the victim’s genitalia was “touched.” Despite the findings, the police official said the victim’s family are determined to file rape charges.
Philippine Army 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson, Army Captain Cenon Pancito, confirmed Balangen, who holds the rank of second lieutenant, was assigned under the Philippine Army 12th Infantry Battalion but has not reported to his unit since December 1.
He added, Balangen’s actions will not be tolerated./DGB, WDJ
