The Social Security System (SSS) recently announced they will be making the processing for maternity benefit claims more efficient.
“These new service procedures and standards, fitted to the provisions of the [Expanded Maternity Leave Law], are designed to expedite maternity benefit processing while still ensuring that there will be no fraudulent claims,” explained SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora C. Ignacio.
The update includes the simplification of documentary requirements, additional documentation for cesarean deliveries will no longer be requested, female members will be provided the option to update or retain their maiden names, among other amendments to the current policy.
In addition, SSS will simply the process for employer maternity reimbursement claims whose employee did not return to work and were unable to submit documentary requirements.
“With these new guidelines in place, we hope our members and their employers may conveniently access our maternity benefit program,” Ignacio added. (PR)
