Yanson-Lopez: We are trying to reconcile

By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga

Amid the ongoing feud within the Yanson family, which operates Vallacar Transit Inc., parent company of the Ceres bus liner, the rival camps held separate stockholders’ meetings over the weekend, resulting in two separate boards of directors.
Roy, Ricardo, Jr., and Emily Yanson, along with Celina Yanson-Lopez—often referred to as the ‘Yanson 4’—elected Yanson-Lopez as president, Roy as vice president for operations, Ricky as secretary, and Emily as treasurer and finance officer.
The group claims to hold 61 percent of company shares.
Meanwhile, the group currently running the company reelected Leo Rey Yanson as president with Olivia  Yanson, Ginnette Yanson-Dumancas, Charles Dumancas, Arvin John Villaruel, Anita Chua, and Daniel Nicolas Golez as board of directors members.
Elected directors serve for one year, until December 2020, or until a successor has been duly elected and qualified.
Meanwhile, lawyer for the ‘Yanson 4,’ Atty. Sigfrid Fortun, questioned how Leo Rey’s camp managed to achieve quorum in their meeting and pointed out how his clients reportedly own the majority shares of the company.
“The remaining 39 percent shares does not constitute the majority,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Yanson-Lopez said reconciliation will always be there, especially during the holiday season.
“We have been trying to reach out to our mother and send feelers but [what] she is demanding from us we cannot decide on it now,” she explained.
In addition, Yanson-Lopez said Roy stepped down as company president for health reasons and denied claimed he switched camps./DGB, WDJ
