The Philippine women’s national volleyball team suffered another loss in the ongoing Southeast Asian Games as Indonesia came back from behind to win 22-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-14 last Saturday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City. It was the third straight defeat for the Philippine team.
After winning the opening set, the Philippines seemed to control the second frame after building a 20-15 lead but the Indonesian side rallied and tied the set up at 26-26 before turning things around with Wulandari Ratri hit.
The third set saw a seesaw battle with the Philippines getting to within 23-22 before Indonesia closed the set behind Hangestri Pertiwi Megawati. The Indonesians then relied on precise execution at the net in the fourth, taking a 20-10 lead over the Philippines and never looking back.
“Siyempre nasayangan kami kasi first set nakuha na namin (Of course, we’re disappointed because we won the first set,” said Ilongga middle blocker Abigail Marano.
