The 2019 Palarong Panlalawigan kicks off today with Bacolod Tay Tung High School, which is representing the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association, looking to defend their title at the Montalbo Residence in Bacolod City. A win would secure them a spot in next year’s Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet.
The team will be led by graduating players Shane Carmona, Joan Marie Monares and Rhean Almendralejo, Alyssa Bertolano, and Kiesha Bedonia; along with Aurea Alvero, Gwen Banas, Annikha Cabasac, Katherine Shaine Cortez, Nicolei Galvan, and Julianne Monares; and Julianah Severino, a reinforcement from the St. John’s Institute.
“Our graduating players, as well as those [in their] final year of eligibility, were very vocal that they want to have another shot at Palaro,” Tay Tung assistant coach Biboy Calamba said. “The coaching staff are just hoping that their hunger and desire will translate on the court.”/ASC, WDJ
