Gilas closes preliminary round undefeated

The Philippine men’s national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, closed the Southeast Asian Games men’s basketball preliminary round undefeated following their 136-67 win over Myanmar over the weekend at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Matthew Wright finished with 29 points for the Philippines, while Vic Manuel added 24, Jeth Troy Rosario scored 16, and Marcio Lassiter and Kiefer Ravena each delivered 15.
Gilas Pilipinas surged to an early lead behind Ravena and Manuel but Myanmar managed to keep in step with perimeter hits.
The Burmese side got as close as four points in the second period before the Philippines unloaded a huge run behind outside hits by Wright and Lassiter, along with inside conversions from Rosario, for a 77-36 score.
The onslaught continued for Gilas Pilipinas in the second half with Wright continuing with his outside hits, while Rosario and Christian Standhardinger made their inside shots.
