The Philippine women’s national football team, the Malditas, were booted from the Southeast Asian Games women’s football semifinals after losing 2-0 to Vietnam last Thursday at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.
After a scoreless first half, Vietnamese striker Thai Thi Thao scored in the 60th minute. Philippine forward Eva Madarag nearly found an equalizer but her attempt was ruled offside.
Nguyen Thi Tuyet then sealed the win with a goal in the 84th minute.
