A shipment of suspected shabu bound for Bacolod City was reportedly intercepted by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents earlier this week at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Metro Manila.
PDEA-Region VI Director Alex Tablate said the bag of shabu, which weighed around 205 grams, was headed for a mall in Bacolod City.
The PDEA official said the shipment was hidden in a box of chocolates and other grocery items, and the package’s point of origin was Santa Rosa City, Laguna.
Tablate also confirmed the name of an individual from Bacolod City was on the package but he has requested the individual not to be named for the time being.
The discovery has since alerted PDEA agents on the latest method of smuggling drugs.
In addition, monitoring has been stepped up at ports and terminals./DGB, WDJ
