The Department of Tourism (DOT) kicked off “Kain Na!,” an event featuring delicacies and culinary heritage of the Western Visayas, yesterday at the Shops at Atria in Iloilo City’s Mandurriao district.

The event, which is the last leg of the department’s food and travel fair, runs throughout the weekend and promises to offer treats native to Iloilo, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Guimaras.

“Kain Na! will bring the Western Visayas’ best and iconic dishes as well as highlight the

products of the DOT-accredited farm sites in the region,” explained DOT-Region VI director, Atty. Helen J. Catalbas. “This will once again showcase why everyone should experience the Western Visayas first.”

“We encourage everyone to join us in promoting our very own cuisine and local

Products,” she added. “Support our farms and continue to uplift our culture and heritage.”

Last month, over 180 individuals attended the “Fun Food Talks” event at the Negros Residences in Bacolod City. The gathering was organized by the DOT and World Food Expo Philippines.

The event highlight featured a panel of chefs, moderated by Margarita Forés, founder of the Cibo chain of restaurants. According to DOT, the panel was comprised of “global chefs who have raised the level of Filipino cuisine on the world stage.”/WDJ
