Philippines medals in skateboarding

Margielyn Didal and Daniel Ledermann secured gold medals for the Philippines yesterday in the Southeast Asian Games skateboarding competition at Sigtuna Hall in Tagaytay City with Didal winning the women’s street division and Ledermann sweeping the men’s event.
Meanwhile, Samuel German and Princess Arbillon captured gold in modern pentathlon, winning the mixed relay beach laser event. In addition, German won silver in the men’s beach laser competition.
In martial arts, Shugen Pablo Nakano clinched the gold medal in women’s judo, winning the 66-kilogram event; Khrizzie Pabulayan and Keisei Nakano both bronze medals; and Jearome Calica and Joemar Gallaza delivered the Philippines first gold medal in wai kru since 2013. Wai kru refers to the traditional ritual performed before a muay thai bout.
In addition, on the ladies’ side, Irendin Lepayan and Rusha Bayacsan won silver for the Philippines.
In other results, cyclist Jermyn Prado won the women’s time trial event; Jylyn Nicanor captured gold in fencing, winning the individual sabre competition; gymnast Carlos Yulo added to his medal haul with a silver in the parallel bars; Alfau Jan Abad and Almohaidib Abad notched their second silver medals in pencak silat, while Ilonggo athlete Dines Dumaan won bronze; Ditto Nestor Dinopol won silver in shooting; Monica Torres, Efraim Inigo, Mary Fornea, and Emmanuel Comendador won bronze in duathlon; Marc Joseph Gonzales scored a bronze in short track speed skating; and Jasmine Alkhaldi took home a bronze in swimming.
In demo sports, Darwin Laylo, Paulo Bersamina, and Ilonggo player Eugene Torre won gold in men’s chess in the problem solving event; while Janelle Frayna, Catherine Secopito, and Shania Mae Mendoza won silver on the ladies’ side.
As of 6:00 p.m. last night, the Philippines remained atop medal standings with 60 gold, 44 silver, and 26 bronze medals./ASC, WDJ
