110-58 in men’s basketball
The Philippine men’s national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, opened their Southeast Asian Games campaign with a massive 110-58 win over Singapore last Wednesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

After surrendering the first two points, Gilas Pilipinas leaned on the exploits by Pringle, Christian Standhardinger, and Wright to build a 30-13 advantage. Singapore then opened the second period with consecutive hits but the Philippines were quick to respond with Marcio Lassiter unloading five straight points to widen their lead to 48-28.
Gilas Pilipinas continued their run behind Pringle and Wright in the third, while Fajardo and Japeth Aguilar made contributions to push the Philippines to a 77-48 lead.
The home team dropped the hammer in the fourth with Manuel and Greg Slaughter easily scoring inside as the lead reached its largest at 52 points.
