Risk assessment held in Bacolod City
Ahead of Typhoon “Tisoy” (Kammuri) making landfall in the Philippines, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who chairs the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, called an emergency meeting last Monday at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Following the meeting, the mayor issued a memorandum placing the council on “Red Alert.” Under such status, all pertinent offices are expected to report to the main office on a 24-hour basis.
In addition, classes at the pre-school, elementary, and secondary levels were formally suspended due to inclement weather.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran requested Department of Education representatives to inform parents about Executive Order No. 66 series of 2012, which outlines the policy on the cancelation of classes after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration issues signal warnings./WDJ
