Philippines opens against Singapore tonight
By Adrian Stewart Co

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel center Greg Slaughter returns to the Philippine men’s national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, in the ongoing Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). As of last night, he was submitted as a medical replacement for TNT KaTropa shooting guard Roger Pogoy, who was ruled out with a back injury.
This will be his second SEA Games stint after winning gold in 2011.
Slaughter was initially cut by Gilas head coach Tim Cone, along with Barangay Ginebra teammates Earl Scottie Thompson and Arthur dela Cruz, after he sustained a thumb injury. However, he was once again a consideration after showing signs of recovery.
Also included on the Gilas roster are Japeth Aguilar, June Mar Fajardo, Jeth Troy Rosario, Christian Standhardinger, Vic Manuel, Matthew Wright, Marcio Lassiter, Chris Ross, Kiefer Ravena, LA Tenorio, and Stanley Pringle.
The Philippines begins their campaign tonight, at 8:00 p.m., against Singapore at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City./ASC, WDJ
