In observance of National Children’s Month last month, Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III delivered his “State of the Children’s Address” at the city gym, where he encouraged the promotion of positive values.
“These are values of patriotism; honesty; integrity; selflessness; respect for elders and our fellowmen; [and] love of God, neighbor, and sacrifice,” he said. “We need these values in our everyday living as good Christians, responsible and concerned citizens, and respectable individuals worthy of emulation.”
“When putting into practice, these values are the intangibles that make a nation great,” the mayor added.
Meanwhile, Marañon assured support for all children’s programs, particularly in the fields of education, sports, nutrition, arts, and culture. He also urged children to be conscientious in their studies; respect their elders and individuals of authority; and be obedient and responsible at home, school, and in the community.
The speech was the highlight of “Adlaw sang Kabataan,” which also included the distribution of the Bulahang Batang Sagaynon Awards,/WDJ
