At least three fire incidents were recorded in Bacolod City yesterday, causing evacuations, damage and destruction to property.
Based on information provided by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod, the first fire incident took place at the elementary building of STI-West Negros University.
The fire reportedly started at around 8:00 a.m. at the building’s stock room located on the second floor.
Students and staff immediately vacated the building, while firefighters went in to combat the blaze. Some were treated for minor smoke inhalation, although no one was badly hurt.
Damages to the school building was estimated at P150,000.
A few hours later, another fire occurred at Purok Bayabasan in the city’s Barangay Banago.
Witnesses report the fire started at around 1:00 p.m. in the residential area of the barangay.
As the BFP was still fighting the blaze in Barangay Bata, another fire call was issued at Purok Kawayan in neighboring Barangay Banago.
After controlling the blaze in Bata, some of the fire trucks pulled out and immediately raced to Banago.
Arson investigators are still probing the cause of the three fire incidents./DGB, WDJ
