The Iloilo City government is now scouting for a 1.5-hectare property for the site of proposed city cemetery cum columbarium facility.
The initiative is in response to rising and crowding of condominium-type niches, and limited area of city-run cemeteries. Columbarium is considered space-saver and entails less maintenance.
The city government is also looking for properties for other projects including city hospital, housing units, and relocation sites, as well as new home for the transfer of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Jaro district’s Barangay Ungka.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas hopes the infrastructures will address the health and housing needs of residents as one of his priority agenda./WDJ
