Philippines scores first win in men’s football
By Adrian Stewart Co

After opening the 2019 Southeast Asian Games men’s football event with a draw and loss, the Philippine men’s U-22 national football team captured their first win last week with a 1-0 victory over Malaysia at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.
A goal in the 74th minute from midfielder Stephan Schröck, who plays for Ceres-Negros FC, was all the Philippines needed to take the three points.
“We’re very happy,” the midfielder said. “We put ourselves in a situation where we can advance.”
“That was the goal and we’re very proud of the result,” he added.
The U-22 squad next faces Timor-Leste on Wednesday, December 4, at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m./ASC, WDJ
