
The Philippine polo team failed its first task in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games polo tournament following a close 8.5-8 defeat against Brunei on Sundayat the Iñigo Zobel Polo Facility in Calatagan, Batangas.
Led by 1-Pacman Partylist Representative Mikee Romero, the Philippine team fell short of taking home the opening day victory with Prince Bahar sealing the win with a penalty.
The polo squad is the first Philippine team to see action in the biennial meet which came six days before the formal opening ceremony to be held on November 30 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
The Philippine polo team will try to bounce back when it faces Malaysia today at the same venue while they will close their preliminary round match against Indonesia on Thursday.
The top two will dispute the gold on December 1 with Division B 0-2 Goals set to fire off on December 3 at the Miguel Romero Polo Facility, also in Calatagan./ASC, WDJ
