Cauayan-based boxer Jay-r Raquinel needed just one round to dispose of his opponent, Jack Amisa of Indonesia, in their non-title bout over the weekend at the Caesars Bluewaters Dubai in the UAE. The win was the Negrense boxer’s second consecutive victory this year after earning the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation flyweight title against Japanese fighter Takuya Kogawa last August.
Raquinel did not waste time imposing a presence on his much-experienced opponent with quick attacks to the body and combinations that shut out the Indonesian boxer for good.
Following the win, the Pinoy fighter hopes his next bout is a world championship eliminator.
“‘Yun talaga ang target ko next (That is my true next target),” he said. “‘Yung makalaban sa world title eliminator para sa flyweight division (I want to fight in a world championship eliminator in the flyweight division).”
Raquinel’s win earned him a 12-1-1 win-loss-draw, including nine stoppage wins; while Amisa dropped to a 21-47-3 record, with 14 knockout victories./ASC,WDJ
