TNT KaTropa scored a 114-109 win over the San Miguel Beermen in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup last Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City, which moved TNT up to third place in the league and earning them a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs.
KJ McDaniels finished with 44 points and 12 rebounds for TNT, while Jeth Troy Rosario added 30 points and 10 boards, Roger Pogoy scored 17 points, and Jayson Castro contributed 12.
Facing a depleted Beermen squad, the KaTropa jumped to a double-digit advantage early on but San Miguel managed to rally in the second half and took a slim 108-107 edge on a John Holland triple. However, timely conversions from McDaniels put KaTropa ahead and snapped their three-game losing streak after successfully preventing the Beermen from scoring further.
In the quarterfinals, TNT will face the Magnolia Hotshots; while the Beermen, who finished in fifth place, will meet Barangay Ginebra San Miguel./ASC, WDJ
