Syria beats the Philippines, 1-0
After falling 5-2 to Syria during their opener of the ongoing second round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification rounds, the Philippine men’s national football team, the Azkals, once again lost, losing 1-0, earlier this week at the Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai, UAE.
Syria only needed a 23rd minute goal from midfielder Ward Al Salama to further extend their lead atop Group A.
In the second half, strikers Curt Dizon and Mark Hartmann both fell short on attempts to equalize for the Azkals.
The Philippines returns to the pitch next year, when they face Guam on March 26 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
Meanwhile, in the other group match, the Maldives scored a 3-1 win over Guam./ASC, WDJ
